Ultrasonic water meter is a new type of electronic remote water meter. Some customers reported that they encountered problems of communication failure during the wiring of the water meter during installation.

Then the main reasons for communication failure are:

 (1) Wiring error (2) Configuration error of the communication protocol (3) The internal communication module of the water meter is damaged.

To find out the cause of the failure, we first need to understand the following aspects:

What is the communication interface of the ultrasonic water meter? M-BUS or RS485?
There are two red and white wires in the M-BUS bus, regardless of the positive and negative poles, and can be connected to the M-BUS acquisition device in series; there are four red, black, yellow, and blue wires in the RS485 bus, of which Red and black represent the power supply "+, -", and yellow and blue represent the signal "A/B", and can not be connected to the wrong line sequence, otherwise it will cause the communication module to burn out.

Have the communication parameters of the water meter been specified when purchasing from the manufacturer?
If the technical parameters of the water meter communication are specified to the manufacturer at the time of purchase, please perform the water meter test in accordance with the technical parameters specified at that time. If the technical parameters are not specified, please confirm the communication parameters of this batch of water meters with the technicians of the manufacturer. Generally speaking, the photoelectric remote water meter has the following two communication combinations:
(1) The 188 protocol is generally used in M-BUS communication, and the default baud rate is 2400bps, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, and even parity.
(2) Modbus is generally used in RS485 bus communication, and the default baud rate is 9600bps, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, and no parity.

If the matching is wrong, the water meter cannot communicate with each other.

I tried all the above methods, but the water meter still can’t communicate.
It may be that the module of the water meter itself is damaged or malfunctioning. Please replace the spare water meter, and after communicating with the manufacturer’s after-sales personnel, send the water meter back to the manufacturer for troubleshooting and repair.
