Speaking of smart electronic water meters, we have to mention electromagnetic water meters and ultrasonic water meters, both of which are currently popular water metering instruments. What are the differences and common points between the two? Why is electromagnetic water meter more expensive than ultrasonic water meter?


Both are ideal alternatives to traditional mechanical water meters. Compared with traditional mechanical water meters, both electromagnetic water meters and ultrasonic water meters have the advantages of low starting flow rate, wide range ratio, high measurement accuracy and stable operation. There are no moving parts and flow-blocking elements inside the two, which are not affected by impurities in the water and have a long service life. The limitations of the ultrasonic water meter limit the field application. In principle, the ultrasonic water meter is a fully electronic water meter manufactured with the principle of ultrasonic time difference and industrial-grade electronic components. Because the ultrasonic water meter checks the flow by reflection, it is easily interfered by the ultrasonic noise mixed in by bubbles, fouling, pumps and other sound sources, which affects the measurement accuracy and has poor anti-interference performance. Straight pipes are strictly required to be 20D in the front and 50D in the back, otherwise the dispersion is poor and the measurement accuracy is poor. In addition, fouling of the measuring pipe will seriously affect the accuracy of the measurement and cause significant measurement errors.


Electromagnetic water meters solve the three major problems of ultrasonic water meters


The electromagnetic water meter is made according to the Faraday electromagnetic induction principle. The principle determines that the electromagnetic water meter is less affected by bubbles and fouling. At the same time, the necking process adopted by the electromagnetic water meter does not require a straight pipe section, which expands the scope of application. Under the premise of not sacrificing measurement accuracy, low-power operation is guaranteed, and this product is battery-powered, with a service life of more than 30 years, and a continuous working time of more than 8 years.
